Facts about hiring in albania

The Inside Track

There are two types of employment contracts in Albania:

  • ✅ Indefinite contracts
  • ✅ Fixed period of time contracts

If the term is fixed (i.e. the job is only of a temporary nature), the employer must provide a justification as to why that is.

The working hours in Albania are normally 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

Employees receive a minimum of 4 weeks of paid annual leave.

Employees are entitled to 365 days of paid maternity leave. 35 days should be taken before the expected due date and a minimum of 42 days must be taken after.

Employees are generally entitled to 14 days of sick leave, paid at an 80% rate by the employer. Employees who are injured at work can receive compensation from social insurance.
