Labour laws in BiH recognize different types of employment contracts: permanent, temporary, part-time, seasonal and probationary.

The working hours in Bosnia and Herzegovina are 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Full-time workers are entitled to a daily 30-minute break, which does not count toward their working hours.

The minimum annual leave in BiH is 20 days and no longer than 30 working days, during which the employees are entitled to full salary compensation.

Employees who are younger than 18 years old are entitled to a minimum 24 days of annual leave, while employees who are engaged in jobs under special working conditions are entitled to a minimum of 30 paid leave days.

Women are entitled to maternity leave for a period of one year without interruption during the pregnancy, childbirth, and after the birth for the care of the baby. Under the labour law of RS, in the case of giving birth to two babies (twins), or the birth of a third child, women are entitled to 18 months of maternity leave.

There is no official set number of the number of sick days an employee is entitled to. However, an employee must provide a medical certificate no later than the third day of illness.
