Meet our Filip Stojanoski, who in just over a year went from Business Development Manager to Head of Sales for East Europe at Native Teams.

In this interview, Filip shares his journey, his advice for aspiring salespeople, and even a surprising hidden talent!

Hi Filip! How are you and where did we catch you today?

Hey there, all good, thanks! Currently, I’m working from my hometown Ohrid, where I’m enjoying the beautiful weather and the calming presence of the lake.

You joined Native Teams a bit over a year ago as a Business Development Manager and, a few months later, became a Senior Business Development Manager. Last month, you got promoted to Head of Sales for East Europe – congratulations! Can you tell us a bit more about why you joined Native Teams and how your role progressed?

That sounds about right, thanks! Over the years, I’ve gained some pretty valuable experience working on the other side of the business. I’ve mostly been doing support, training, and quality assurance, with a dash of leadership and sales thrown into the mix. I’ve put my English and German skills to good use, alongside my tech-savvy side. As I grew, I felt that I was slowly getting into my comfort zone and hitting the ceiling, so I wanted to try something new that would be challenging and rewarding at the same time. Then, as I was searching for the next opportunity, a good friend of mine recommended that I check out the Business Development Manager position at Native Teams, which matched my interests and skills.

To be frank, it was quite a journey, but I was ready to take it on. Looking back, it demanded a ton of focus, self-improvement, dedication, and good time management skills. As I developed and my performance metrics reflected my efforts, the company provided me with more opportunities to grow further, ultimately yielding fruitful results, leading me to where I am today.

What do you like the most about Native Teams?

What I love most about Native Teams is the incredible flexibility it offers, allowing me to thrive in a multicultural and diverse environment. The abundance of learning and development opportunities keeps me constantly engaged and growing. Plus, the chance to travel and meet fascinating people from around the globe adds an exciting dimension to my experience here.

What does your typical working day look like (if there is a typical day)?

As the Head of Sales for East Europe, my day starts with a strong cup of coffee to fuel me. I start by gathering my team for our morning briefing and meetings, where we go over our daily objectives and address any pressing issues. Then, it’s time to meet with our key clients, ensuring we’re aligned on strategies and addressing any concerns they may have. Throughout the day, I also collaborate with other teams to share customer feedback and stay on top of market demand. It’s a dynamic role that keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

What was the most interesting and fun event you participated in?

It’s tough to choose just one, but if I had to pick, I’d say the Pirate Summit stands out. It was my first international event within Native Teams, held in Cologne last summer, and it was truly unforgettable. Being the last of its series, it offered a unique experience where I met people from diverse backgrounds, tested my skills, gained valuable insights, and gathered more knowledge about the global market.

What would you recommend to anyone wanting to get into sales?

That’s a great question! For those aspiring to enter sales, I’d recommend staying open-minded and eager to learn. Customer-centricity is crucial, so empathize with their perspective and journey. Stay responsive, polite, and detail-oriented, and don’t shy away from leveraging your communication skills – being talkative can help build rapport and drive sales.

What’s one adventurous activity or experience you’ve always wanted to try?

I have a whole bucket list of adventurous activities, but the one I’m most looking forward to next is parachute jumping. I’ve always wanted to try it, and I can’t wait to experience the thrill of free-falling from the sky.

Have you ever volunteered or been involved in a cause that’s important to you, and how did it impact you?

Throughout my elementary and high school years, I actively volunteered with the Red Cross, participating in numerous humanitarian and charity events. I took part in extensive training in peer education, health preservation, and logistics, all while interacting with people from various backgrounds. The values I learned during my time there are priceless. These experiences significantly broadened my perspective and enhanced my communication, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity skills.

Where can we find you when you’re not working? What are your hobbies?

When I’m not at work, I’m usually travelling, gaming, watching educational content, or simply relaxing with some good music. I also enjoy engaging in casual sports, spending quality time with friends and family, or attending cultural events.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know?

I got my first computer at the age of 7, which sparked my interest in online games, especially multiplayer games, due to my competitive nature. I’ve played a wide range of games, from real-time strategy and board games to sports games, multiplayer online battle arenas, and first- and third-person shooters. In total, I have easily logged over 10,000 hours of gameplay across various genres (yes, you read that right, 10,000+ hours), with the majority spent in competitive or ranked modes, consistently placing in the top 5% of players.

In high school, I played at a very high level and even considered going pro and taking a year off to try and pursue it. My most notable achievement was in Teamfight Tactics, where I reached the top 0.05% of players in Europe, out of a million players at the time. In hindsight, I sometimes wonder if it would have been wise to try.

If your life became a movie, which actor would you like to play you?

Chuck Norris, because who else could close all the deals? Just kidding! If my life were a movie, I’d want to be the lead actor, taking charge of my own story.

And lastly, if you could give one life advice to your younger self, what would you say?

If there’s one thing I’d tell my younger self, it’s this: Dream big, believe in your dreams, work hard, and never give up. Remember, while striving for your goals, don’t forget to live a little and cherish the moments along the way. You’ll achieve everything you set your mind to, and the journey will be just as rewarding as the destination.
