Hi Martina! How are you doing today? Where did we catch you?

Hey, hello! Today is such a nice, calm, and lovely day, and I’m enjoying the sun, thank you. I’m moving and travelling most of the time, living in different cities in Macedonia while waiting for my apartment to be ready😅, but right now, I am enjoying the great weather in sunny Gevgelija with my family.

Tell us about yourself! How would you describe yourself in 3 sentences?

I’m a food enthusiast who’s deeply engaged in social media. I love crafting content for my food blog, enjoy every-day work for Native Teams, and I study food technology and digital marketing on the side. I love planning things, and in my free time, I snuggle in bed with a good movie and a bowl of popcorn.

You joined Native Teams 10 months ago as a Social Media Analyst. What are your work responsibilities, and what does your typical workday look like?

I love every minute of this role, and almost every day is different. I plan and create most of the content for all our social media channels, craft the copies, take some photos and videos, and collaborate and engage with all our team members and followers.

You are also a cooking enthusiast and many people know you as  @martinascooking, you are one of Macedonian best-known food influencers with more than 100K followers. What strategies or tactics have you found most effective in growing your brand and community?

Wohoho, thanks for the exciting start! My love and passion for cooking is huge and I enjoy spending time in the kitchen. That’s how I decided to save and share all my recipes on Instagram. From a digital marketing perspective, a crucial thing for me was being close with the followers, sharing what they loved to see, and making easy, simple and catchy meals that everyone could prepare at home. Once you try one recipe, and it’s a win, you are trying more and more, and that brings engagement to the page. It was never about more numbers but the positivity and love I receive every single day. And starting that page, also started the love for digital marketing, social media, design and creating content.

What were some of your favourite projects so far?

When it comes to food projects, every collaboration is unique and rewarding. However, one standout experience was creating an international cookbook with DmBio, featuring recipes from five food bloggers representing Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Slovenia.

As for Native Teams, the project that I loved working on the most was the 60-second interviews. It was a lot of fun crafting and filming these videos, which allowed us to get to know our colleagues better.

How does Native Teams and working remotely help you with being able to continue doing your own projects on the side?

Working remotely is one of the best things, but really! I can organise my time, create content in the mornings, and then enjoy the day working remotely from a sunny spot, my favourite coffee shop, or while being around family and friends. I film most of the meals I have for the week on the weekends or while preparing them on a lunch break. Overall, it’s a win-win situation!

We can probably say you live and breathe social media. How do you maintain a good work-life balance? What do you like to do when you need a little digital detox?

Sometimes it’s really hard being present everywhere, even though I enjoy my work and love spending time on socials. But taking some days off, watching movies after work or going for a walk can really help the balance. Slow mornings, coffee on a sunny day, and a delicious breakfast bring so much energy!

Who and/or what is your biggest inspiration?

After spending years working on Instagram as my daily routine, I really do find inspiration in all the people who follow me and engage in regular conversations. Their support and the impact my profile has on them motivate me to keep creating.

Being part Native Teams also brings me joy, as I see how it helps people achieve better work-life balance, which inspires and motivates me further

What is on your bucket list? What do you want to achieve in the next few years?

One thing that’s at the top of my bucket list right now is completing my apartment. As a food blogger for nearly five years, it’s surprising that I’ve never cooked recipes in a proper kitchen, so having one is my top priority! 😄 Other than that, I just want a simple and peaceful life next to my loved ones. Learning, creating and crafting better content, and of course exploring new places around the globe. Just looking forward to all the good stuff ahead!

What advice do you have for individuals looking to build a career in social media, especially in terms of cultivating a strong personal brand?

To build a career in social media, start by sharing what you love. Share that passion by making simple but interesting posts and using good-quality photos and videos. What I always love to say is: Don’t wait for the perfect moment—start now and improve as you go. Remember, social media is about connecting and sharing, so focus on giving value to your audience and enjoying the process of building your brand along the way!
