How does a salary calculator for Kazakhstan work?

It’s pretty straightforward to use the salary calculator — you’re only required to input the role, country, and currency. Then, the calculator will factor in the base salary and deduct the taxes and social security contributions from the gross amount. The result of this calculation is the net salary, which represents the amount the employee receives in their bank account.

What is the salary cost in Kazakhstan?

In Kazakhstan, employees contribute 10% to individual pension accounts and 2% to health insurance of their gross salary. In addition, employers pay 3.5% to social security contributions, 3% to medical insurance, and 1.5% to pension contributions. They also must allocate 5% of their own resources to employees engaged in jobs with harmful working conditions.

How much tax do you pay in Kazakhstan?

There’s a flat tax rate of 10% on individual income. Moreover, employers are obligated to pay an 11% social tax.

*Note that labour laws constantly change, so it’s important to keep abreast of the latest developments.

What are the mandatory benefits covered in Kazakhstan?

Employees are entitled to 24 calendar days of paid annual leave per year, as well as sick leave. The duration of a sick leave depends on the employment contract and medical certification.

Female employees are entitled to 126 calendar days of maternity leave (70 days before childbirth and 56 days after). For complicated deliveries or multiple births, the postnatal leave extends to 70 days. Although fathers aren’t entitled to paternity leave, they can be granted up to 5 calendar days of unpaid leave.

Are there any other benefits or additional expenses?

Employers may provide additional health insurance plans that cover medical expenses beyond the basic state-provided healthcare, including hospitalisation, dental, and vision care. They can also offer life insurance policies that financially support employees' beneficiaries in the event of their death.

Some employers may even establish additional retirement savings plans or 401(k)-like schemes to help employees save for retirement beyond mandatory contributions.

What is the difference between Gross and Nett in the Kazakhstan Salary Calculator?

In Kazakhstan, the salary calculator helps distinguish between gross and net salary, which is crucial for understanding an employee's actual earnings. Gross salary represents an employee's total income before any deductions, including the base salary, bonuses, and other compensation outlined in the employment contract. It reflects the complete financial agreement between the employer and the employee.

Conversely, net salary is the amount employees receive after all mandatory deductions have been applied to the gross salary. In Kazakhstan, these deductions typically include the following: income tax, pension fund contributions, and social health insurance.
