A day in the life of a digital nomad: Meet Lissy, the product owner!

Why would you work from some boring office if you could work from literally anywhere in the world?

Today we’re introducing you to Lissy, our product owner who surely knows how to embrace the digital nomad lifestyle. She moved from England to Lisbon to pursue her career in the tech industry and has been loving to work from the sunniest European capital.

Who is Lissy?

Hey, I’m Lissy! I’m 28 and originally from a small village in the UK. I have a background in Psychology but made a leap to the tech world in 2019 and haven’t looked back!  I’m the happiest when I am travelling with friends and family, writing, hiking and I have recently started learning Muay Thai! 🥊

What is the most exciting thing about being a product owner?

I get to work closely with everyone in the team, and see a product go through all stages from the initial brainstorming, to wireframes, designs and lastly launch,  all whilst thinking of new features that will be beneficial to our users. 

What made you move from England to Lisbon?

I wanted a career change so came to do a Web Development bootcamp here. Staying long term wasn’t the plan but I was lucky enough to find my remote job which meant I could work and live in a city I love.  

What’s on your bucket list?

To do the hike in the Lauterbrunnen valley in Switzerland or live for some time in a forest in Chiang Mai surrounded by waterfalls. And skydiving.  

What are the pros and cons of remote working?

The pros are that I have the freedom to work from anywhere (as long as I have decent internet connection). The cons are it can be harder to collaborate and brainstorm on more difficult ideas ‘virtually’ – but we make it work! 

What is the best thing about working for Native Teams?

Everyone is so supportive, hard working and friendly. We all want the products to do so well and we have a good balance of work and social life.
